The Ultimate African wildlife and luxury Safaris within your reach

THE ULTIMATE BOTSWANA SAFARI

"Go to Botswana at your peril... The visitor here is often profoundly changed, even after a short time. For this is a good country, a place where, for the most part, governments and people have behaved with propriety and with respect for others.
It is a place that is ready to break the heart in unexpected ways...".

Alexander McCall Smith (the author of "No 1 Ladies Detective Agency")

Day 1 - 3
Today you will start your exciting safari when you catch your scheduled flight from Johannesburg to arrive at Livingstone airport where you will be welcomed with broad smiles and escorted to the lovely Stanley Safari Lodge on a fully inclusive basis with accommodation in either garden cottages and/or suites. You will have time to settle in and refresh and enjoy an evening sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi river....
Stanley Safari Lodge
Livingstone - Zambia
Two nights' accommodation on a fully inclusive basis in Garden Cottage

From almost every room at Stanley Safari Lodge you can see distant views of the mighty Victoria Falls. Set on a hill overlooking unspoilt bush, Stanley is a perfect base from which to explore the delights of the area - from river rafting and bungee jumping to sunset cruises and Elephant-back safaris. You can dine outdoors under the stars, in the privacy of your suite or even in the infinity pool. The African style and furnishings of the lodge reflect the textures and patterns of Africa, and your hosts here will do their best to make your stay a memorable one. It doesn't get more romantic than this in the Honeymoon Suite -crisp white linen, views of the spray from the Falls and your own private pool.

The Victoria Falls and its surroundings offer a wide variety of activities. Around the Victoria Falls are some fine national parks such as Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park and Chobe National Park (Botswana), which can all be visited without checking out of Stanley Safari Lodge. Chobe National Park is home to the world's largest Elephant population, which represents a third of all African Elephant and is ideal to visit both by boat and 4x4 vehicle.
Stanley Safari Lodge has excellent air and road connections and is an excellent starting point for your safari in Southern Africa (Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia). Stanley Safari Lodge also offers safaris to the remote South Luangwa National Park and can arrange your trip to other destinations in Zambia (Luangwa, Lower Zambezi), Botswana's Okavango Delta or Namibia. Dr Livingstone was the first European to see the Victoria Falls in 1855. Known locally as Mosi-Oa-Tunya or 'the smoke that thunders' because of the spray made by the mass of water dropping 100 metres below in the gorges. Livingstone renamed the falls Victoria Falls in honour of Queen Victoria. Fifty years later, missionaries and traders settled in the small Zambian town of Livingstone and the railway bridge over the Zambezi was built. The UNESCO proclaimed the Falls as a World Heritage Site, due to its unique nature. Nowadays, the Victoria Falls mark the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The Main House has been designed with space and views in mind. Enjoy sundowners in the African style lounge, French cuisine with an African twist in the dining room or spend some quiet time in the library or upper deck discovering the secrets of Africa. This house has a truly African feel, while the colonial suites evoke the elegant era of Stanley and Livingstone and have private pools, airconditioning and other luxuries. The rooms are designed to allow you to enjoy the sights of the African bush. In the open ones, the sounds and smells overwhelm all your senses too. The open-sided design affords a unique view across the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park to the mighty Zambezi River and the Victoria Falls - one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
Stanley Safari Lodge's immaculate linen, mahogany furniture and beautiful tableware complete the picture. Each of Stanley Safari Lodge's 7 luxury cottages is individually designed and decorated with local materials. Accommodation ranges from double suites, to the honeymoon cottage, with both its own fireplace and plunge pool. All Stanley Safari Lodge cottages have their own private garden and dining area. All rooms overlook the waterhole, which is the favourite sundowner of Elephants.

The main house provides the setting for Stanley Safari Lodge's French style cuisine; alternatively dine under the stars, on the lawn or in the privacy of your own cottage, whilst enjoying the personal service of Stanley Safari Lodge's Zambian staff, all with an in-depth knowledge of Livingstone and its environs. Stanley Safari Lodge is located away from the Zambezi River, on a hill overlooking a spray of the Victoria Falls (sunsets), the Zambezi River and bordering the Mosi Oa Tunya National Park.

Day 2

Day 9 - 11
This morning you will enjoy a morning game activity and breakfast before departing for the beauty of Shinde, situated in a private concession....

Okavango Delta - bordering Moremi Game - Shinde
(Land & Water Based Camp)
Two nights at Shinde on a fully inclusive basis Shinde Camp lies in a lush palm dotted area on the edge of a lagoon, which leads to a network of fast-flowing waterways opening out at intervals to lily ponds and lakes. This water wonderland gives guests the opportunity to explore the Okavango in a traditional canoe (mokoro).
These canoes take two people sitting low down, while your guide pushes you along with a long wooden pole. This is the most peaceful and tranquil way of getting around the Okavango. Shinde Camp's alternative craft are specially designed motorised aluminium boats that negotiate the twists and turns of the narrow channels with ease.
As Shinde Camp lies on a large island, there are many opportunities for game drives and the occasional surprise bush lunch. A fully equipped table and buffet is set out in a clearing where you least expect it.
Shinde Camp and the new Shinde Enclave (an adjoining tented camp for small groups), are raised on wooden decks to provide views over clear reed-filtered permanent lagoons.
These river inlets lead to extensive waterways and narrow channels, past palm-dotted islands and grass plains which are home to considerable bird and animal life. Shinde Camp has a fantastic choice of Okavango safari options, with permanent river frontage, fast flowing channels and fishing lagoons, plus wide grasslands and riverine forests for varied game drives, boat excursions and walking safaris.
The central dining and lounge area at Shinde Camp is a unique multi-level wooden construction built high into the trees. Supported by beams and gigantic branches, you can peer out through foliage to gain views over the tall reeds and into the heart of the Okavango waterways.
Shinde is actually located on a large island, which acts as home to a wide variety of birds and animals. The lodge has the perfect combination of land and water, which provides excellent photographic opportunities.
Shinde Camp's remoteness has minimised the pressures of tourism on the local environment. The variety of bird life is exceptional around Shinde Camp and well-equipped delta craft whisk you to see some important breeding colonies of Heron, Egrets, Pelicans and Stork.
Animal life is no less fascinating with the chance to see rare Sitatunga antelope, large herds of Lechwe and wading elephants. Shinde's abundant wildlife and its silent Okavango waters combine to make a vacation at Shinde Camp a rare and wonderful experience.
Accommodation
Canvas walls are lowered in inclement weather, at other times the sides are open to give you views across the tops of tall reeds and into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Shinde Camp is spread spaciously around a wooded grassy area with 5 safari suites looking towards the lagoon and grasslands.
Guests sit down to meals at one long dark wood dining table, laden with freshly baked bread and some incredible home-made chilli sauces. Shinde's food is usually buffet style with a range of imaginative homely meals and crisp salads. There is a well-stocked bar, plenty of ice and free flowing red and white wine.
